We’ve hit that time of the year again, it’s time for TPet Unwrapped! We take the time to take a look back at the highs and lows of 2021, and we look forward to what we hope to achieve in 2022.
2021 was a jam packed year for everyone in the office, with exciting new projects, continued collaborations and hiring even more staff! We grabbed the bull by the horns and made 2021 the biggest year in our history! A year mixed with challenges from the off, but also a year mixed with delight, it’s time to unwrap TPet!
It Wasn’t a Great Start
Lockdown and Home Learning. Those two dreaded words. After we’d gone through the wringer at the beginning of 2020 with it all, we didn’t expect to go through it again in the Winter. But we all showed our resilience, and there for one another, the office united stronger than ever before!
Unfortunately, this meant that for schools, there was a return to working from home. But this wouldn’t deter the team, we’d been here before and we were prepared…
We Had Your Back…
We reintroduced our Home Learning Hub. This was an important resource for a LOT of you during the 2020 lockdown, and this time was no different. In fact, to be precise, 125,000 of you had visited the Home Learning Hub this time round! We were staggered by the love you showed us all, and we were so thankful that even during this incredibly stressful and difficult time, you came to us for all of your home learning needs. While all this was going on, we also juggled around making you some brand new and exciting resources!
This was in addition to the 12 weeks of Home Learning Content produced last year! That’s a lot of home learning content available to download!
We Took Time to Stop, Take in Our Surroundings and Be Mindful
What nicer way to take in our surroundings then by a bit of bird watching or stargazing. For the Winter and Spring, we produced resources to support The Big Bird Watch and resources that focussed on Stargazing. As the skies cleared and nature was thriving, these were the perfect activities to take part in! But you were mindful as well. In fact, 38,000 of you decided to take a trip to Monster Lane for Wellbeing Wednesday and read the first eBook featuring HiLo. These past couple of years, more than ever, have shown how important maintaining a healthy mindset is, looking after ourselves and looking after one another.
As You Headed Back Into Your Classrooms
We knew it was going to be ‘Tuff’. As we entered March, schools were re-opened. And you all went Tuff Tray mad! Meg, one of our amazingly talented Graphic Designers began a brand new trend that you know as #tuffytuesdays. Tuffy Tuesdays provided you the PERFECT opportunity to show off your fantastic Tuff Tray creations, with hundreds of you posting and thousands of likes pouring in. With a dedicated web page, we choose the best submissions of the week and post them to our own Instagram. We had such huge fans that we had weekly submissions from some of you, now that is a lot of creativity. Tuffy Tuesdays is on a break right now till the new year, but if you’re still posting yours with #tuffytuesdays – thank you!
And Then We Welcomed New Faces (And Launched Some Cool New Projects)!
In March, we welcomed two new faces to our team, as Phil joined us as our KS2 Content Creator, while Emily joined us as a Graduate Graphic Designer. With the team now reinforced, this allowed us to begin working on some fantastic new projects and thousands of resources in record time. SPEAK Phonics, Wellbeing Wednesday, Primary News Today, C.R.E.A.T.E Science and so much more, we were really starting to hit our stride now. And with the added manpower, the quality of our resources only increased further. It was becoming pretty clear that the team had hit the jackpot with Phil and Emily.
And then in November, we welcomed Lewis to our team who joined us as a Games Developer. Lewis straight away began work on a TPet Fan Favourite that you all loved (and it’s coming soon)! Lewis settled in very quickly, and has impressed everyone with his Game Development skills (and caused confusion at the thousands of lines of code that make up these games).
And You Absolutely Loved These Projects and Resources
2 Million of you, to be exact. That many of you had visited the website in 2021, with visits from every country around the world, now that is a lot of visitors! Whether it was those of you based in the UK, expats, teaching abroad for a while or those of you who were teachers based in another country from the off, you all gave us some love. Teacher’s Pet was going global! It’s surreal to think that our resources were being used all the way from Dubai to Dublin and beyond!
And It’s This Popularity Which Gave Us Fantasic Numbers!
In 2021, we had over 300,000 account renewals and 60,000 brand new members joining the TPet Family. The site was growing at a rate of knots. During this difficult period, you all put your faith in Teacher’s Pet. We would not be where we are today without our amazing members, old and new.

And As We Wrap Up For Christmas
As we begin wrapping up for Christmas, this December saw the arrival of our Advent Calendar for the 8th year running. This year saw us take on Santa’s South Pole Adventure, travelling around the world to discover what was being done to help protect the environment by various people, before heading to the South Pole to meet Palmer, who you have hopefully seen in our first ever printed book!
17th December saw the team finally get their office Christmas party at Keele Hall. After a year of hard work, we all sat down for good food, good company and, of course, a little bit of a dance as well. We really enjoyed our time there and it was nice for the team to just let their hair down. We end 2021 in the office on Thursday 23rd December with our in office Christmas meal. We’ll all be taking a well deserved break till the 4th January to relax and enjoy spending some quality time with our families (even the in-laws…) Importantly, YOU also need to have some downtime. Enjoy your Christmas, make memories with your family, take time to remember everything important to you. These past couple of years have showed us all that now more than ever, we all need each other.
We look forward to what 2022 will bring the team at Teacher’s Pet. With so many exciting projects underway, it really is shaping up to be the biggest year in TPet history! The projects will be bigger and better, and to accomodate this, we hope to bring in new members to the team to help us shape our vision for where we see the company heading to in 2022 and beyond. But it’s with your support that we’re able to do all of these AMAZING projects, and we would not be where we are today were it not for your continued support. A big thank you to you all.
And that’s a wrap! Have a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year, and we will see you all in 2022.
