World Book Day Poem
Let me tell you a story,
About a time of year,
When teachers turn up at school,
Wearing all sorts of crazy gear!
But it’s not just the teachers,
It’s the children too,
I couldn’t believe my eyes,
When I bumped into Winnie the Pooh!
I walked into assembly,
And stood there in a row,
Were seven Harry Potters,
On their broomsticks ready to go.
Oh look, is that my teacher?
Or is it Captain Hook?
I can’t believe my eyes,
Let me take another look.
Whatever next, I thought,
This really is bizarre!
I went out to play at lunchtime,
To find Noddy in his car!
There’s Anna, there’s Elsa,
There’s even Olaf too!
Look over there, it’s Stick Man,
Chased by the puppy from Dear Zoo!
I wonder what is going on?
Can you help me, Gruffalo?
Why is everyone dressed this way?
He replied, “Why didn’t you know?”
Today we dress as characters,
From stories old and new,
We all have a favourite,
I’m sure you have one too?
Let’s share our love of stories,
In this very special way,
Tell me, who are you going to be?
Let’s celebrate World Book Day!
