Year 2 Uses of Everyday Materials helps children explore why different materials suit different jobs. Pupils compare materials and test which ones work best for specific tasks. They also explore how solid objects can change shape through squashing, bending, twisting and stretching. Practical tasks help children link material properties to real uses in everyday life.
These activities support and follow the Year 2 National Curriculum for science, encouraging children to build essential enquiry skills such as comparing, testing, observing changes and drawing simple conclusions based on the topic focus.
