Exploring plants through first-hand observation supports early investigation, with EYFS plants investigation activities encouraging children to notice growth, changes and similarities between plants. In Nursery and Reception, pupils may plant seeds, observe roots and leaves, or talk about what plants need to grow, using practical experiences to build understanding. These EYFS plants investigation activities link to the Let’s Investigate theme and support learning through discussion, curiosity and play-based enquiry within the EYFS framework.
