Learning to tell the time to quarter past and quarter to is an important step in KS1 maths and builds on pupils’ understanding of o’clock and half past. These quarter past and to KS1 maths activities support children in recognising quarter-hour intervals on analogue clocks, understanding the movement of the minute hand and using correct time language. Classroom learning focuses on linking clock faces to familiar daily routines and sequencing events within the hour. Designed for KS1 pupils, quarter past and to KS1 maths activities help secure time concepts and prepare children for more advanced time work later in primary school.
