Teaching castles in KS1 helps pupils learn about important buildings from the past and their role in history. These castles KS1 activities support Year 1 and Year 2 pupils in exploring what castles were used for, who lived in them and how they were built and defended. Through discussion, sequencing, labelling and comparison tasks, castles KS1 activities help pupils develop early historical skills, including using subject-specific vocabulary, understanding life in the past and recognising differences between then and now within the primary school history curriculum.
