Teaching about houses and homes in KS1 helps pupils understand how where people live has changed over time and how homes today can be different from those in the past. These houses and homes KS1 activities support Year 1 and Year 2 pupils in comparing past and present homes, exploring features such as rooms, furniture, building materials and daily life. Through discussion, sorting and simple enquiry tasks, houses and homes KS1 activities help pupils develop early historical skills, including using appropriate vocabulary, recognising similarities and differences, and understanding change over time within the primary school history curriculum.
