National Poetry Day offers a purposeful focus for developing pupils’ appreciation of language through KS2 National Poetry Day classroom activities that encourage reading, performance and creative response. Across Key Stage 2, pupils explore a range of poetic forms, rhythm and imagery while discussing meaning and author intent, supporting spoken language and writing objectives within the English curriculum. These KS2 National Poetry Day classroom activities help teachers create engaging lessons where pupils experiment with vocabulary, structure and expression, building confidence in both reading and writing poetry.
