‘A little magic can take you a long way.’ – James and the Giant Peach

Roald Dahl Day creates an engaging context for exploring humour, character and imagination through KS2 Roald Dahl Day classroom activities that support reading and creative writing in English lessons. Across Key Stage 2, pupils can analyse distinctive characters, inventive language and story openings inspired by the work of Roald Dahl, before applying these ideas to their own writing. These KS2 Roald Dahl Day classroom activities encourage thoughtful discussion, vocabulary development and confident storytelling while reinforcing curriculum expectations for writing structure and audience awareness.
