Early Years The Most Magnificent Moose Changing Seasons Activities

Explore the wonderful world of seasonal changes with our Changing Seasons Activities, created in partnership with Hachette Children’s Publishing to support the children’s storybook The Most Magnificent Moose by Rachel Bright and Jim Field.

Throughout Morris’s adventure, the beautiful wilderness changes with the seasons, providing the perfect opportunity for children to explore how the natural world transforms throughout the year.
Designed for Nursery and Reception, this EYFS resource includes two engaging activities to help children recognise and discuss the characteristics of spring, summer, autumn and winter.

What’s included?

  • Seasonal Sorting Activity: Four illustrated seasonal mats featuring scenes from the story, alongside picture cards showing seasonal objects and changes in nature. Children match the pictures to the correct season, developing their observational skills and understanding of the world around them.
  • Four Seasons Tree Activity: A printable tree outline divided into four sections, encouraging children to represent each season using paint, fingerprints, tissue paper or natural materials.

The pack also includes teacher guidance and discussion questions to encourage children to compare the seasons, identify changes in weather and vegetation, and consider how seasonal changes affect animals and their habitats.
Ideal for Understanding the World lessons, seasonal topics, continuous provision and creative classroom activities.
