Early Years The Most Magnificent Moose Comprehension Activities

Develop early writing, comprehension and emotional understanding with our Magnificent Moose Comprehension Writing Activities, created in partnership with Hachette Children’s Publishing to support the children’s storybook The Most Magnificent Moose by Rachel Bright and Jim Field.

As Morris begins comparing himself to the other moose, he experiences feelings of uncertainty and self-doubt.
These engaging literacy activities encourage children to explore his thoughts and feelings while developing their ability to communicate ideas through drawing, discussion and writing.

What’s included?
Thought Bubble Writing: A beautifully illustrated activity sheet featuring Morris looking at his reflection. Children consider what Morris might be thinking and record their ideas in the thought bubble.
Caption Writing: A story illustration featuring Morris and the other moose, with space for children to write a caption describing what is happening.

These activities are ideal for encouraging children to look closely at illustrations, make inferences about characters and use their developing phonics knowledge to write simple words, phrases or sentences.
Perfect for Reception literacy lessons, guided writing activities, small-group work or independent learning opportunities.
