How to Roller-Skate with One Leg Persuasive Letter Writing

This Persuasive Letter Writing Activity has been created to use in conjunction with the book, How to Roller-Skate with One Leg by Ella Dove.

In this activity, children will take on the role of one of Maya Bright’s friends and write a persuasive letter to the headteacher, urging them to make the school more accessible for Maya.
They will be encouraged to think about how to present their arguments clearly and convincingly, using facts, emotional appeal, and logical reasoning to highlight the importance of creating an inclusive environment.
This activity develops persuasive writing techniques, empathy, and critical thinking while deepening children’s understanding of the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
