Stoke on Trent 100 Years Celebration – FREE ‘I Come From a Town’ Poem and Activity

Inspire creative writing with this poetry activity pack based on Nick Degg’s powerful and insightful poem, I Come From a Town.
The pack includes a printable version of the poem, making it easy to share with your class.
After exploring the themes and language, pupils are encouraged to write their own poems celebrating the past, present, and future of Stoke-on-Trent. A fantastic way to blend local history with expressive writing.

Nick Degg is an inspiring Centenary Poet Laureate and Performance Poet from the city of Stoke-on-Trent.
He has won various awards throughout his career and performs regularly in venues across the country.
As a strong believer in promoting the joy of both writing and listening to poetry, he kindly allowed us to include this poem within the resource pack so that children in the area can be inspired by the art form and explore creating their own.

As a Stoke-on-Trent based company, we are proud to be from this city and call it our home.
To celebrate the incredible occasion of our city turning 100, we have created a range of fun and educational resources which can be used with your class to inspire future generations.
Make sure to check out the official Stoke-on-Trent Centenary page for information on events happening throughout our city, click here to check it out!

In addition to these resources, we have also created a range of FREE local history resources that explore the city’s history.
