The Big Bird Watch – Bird Beaks and Sorting Activity

The Big Bird Watch – Bird Beaks and Sorting Activity

Have you ever paid attention to a bird’s beak? Each bird has a distinct type of beak which helps them to survive in their habitat. This resource includes a poster that details the different types of beaks – with pictures for reference, and what each beak can do. Children can then complete the matching/sorting activity to embed their learning and understanding. A real fun activity – this resource is brilliant to complete after doing their own bit of bird watching.
Great links to adaptation and the food chain.

The Big Garden Birdwatch is an event that takes place each year, usually at the end of January – encouraging children to make note of birds they see in the wild and submit results to the RSPB charity. It is a way to encourage children to take notice of the wildlife available on their doorstep and also learn to care for it.

Could we have answers to the beak/food matching activity please – not all teachers are ornithologists! Thank you.
