Jungle Hide and Seek Tuff Tray | Visualise, Build and Map | Week 10 Reception Summer Maths

This immersive small-world tuff tray encourages children to develop their understanding of position, viewpoint and perspective through an exciting pirate hide-and-seek adventure.
Children hide pirate characters around a jungle island scene and use positional language to describe where they are hidden, using vocabulary such as behind, in front of, next to, above, below and between.

As children explore the tray from different angles, they begin to understand how what they can see changes depending on their viewpoint.
They are encouraged to describe what a character might be able to see, explain where objects are positioned and consider how descriptions change when they move to a new location.

The activity promotes spatial reasoning, communication and problem-solving through meaningful play.
Challenge questions encourage children to think deeply about perspective and location, helping them build confidence in describing routes, positions and relationships between objects while developing key mathematical language.

Jungle Hide and Seek Tuff Tray supports:
Block 6 Visualise, Build and Map
Step 5: Visualise from different positions
Step 6: describe positions
