Session 2 - Understanding My Engine

Key focus: body clues and emotional awareness

//tpet.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/sign2.png

Pit Stop 2 builds on the learning from Session 1 by helping children recognise that emotions don't just affect our thoughts—they can also create physical sensations in our bodies. Through engaging discussions, practical activities and child-friendly resources, children begin to notice the clues their own "engine" gives them when they experience different emotions.

Using the familiar Regulation Road characters, children explore how body clues can look and feel different for everyone. They learn that a fast heartbeat, butterflies in their tummy, tense muscles, or a heavy feeling can all provide valuable information about how they feel. Rather than judging these sensations, children are encouraged to become curious about them and develop the self-awareness needed for emotional regulation.
