Session 4 - Choosing My Pit Stops

Key focus: individual needs and strategy choice

//tpet.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/sign4.png

Pit Stop 4 introduces children to the idea that different people need different things when experiencing emotions. Rather than suggesting there is one strategy that works for everyone, this session encourages children to explore a variety of practical "Pit Stop Strategies" and begin identifying the tools that best support their own emotional needs.

Through engaging discussions and hands-on activities, children learn that emotions don't always need to disappear. Instead, they begin asking, "What does my engine need right now?" before selecting a strategy that feels appropriate for the situation. This child-centred approach promotes independence, self-awareness and thoughtful decision-making while reinforcing that everyone's regulation journey is different.
