Fill Your Bookshelf With Phil
Welcome back to Fill Your Bookshelf! This week, Phil has been reviewing A Coder Like Me, by Dr Shini Somara! Phil says –
“A Coder Like Me is an entertaining and informative book that introduces readers to the world of computers, coding and problem solving. Written by Dr Shini Somara a mechanical engineer, TV presenter and now author, the book follows a boy called Sam as he finds out all about his Auntie Jo’s job as a coder.
With fantastic illustrations, this engaging story explains coding in the simplest terms, introduces some of the people in history who have shaped it and highlights the various ways in which coding is applied in everyday life.
I would highly recommend sharing this book with a class before starting a unit of work on coding. It not only gives a context and purpose to the learning, but also inspires children to regard coding as a viable and exciting career choice.”
Are there any other books you would like Phil to review? Maybe you would like to see reviews for A Scientist Like Me and An Engineer Like Me? Then just let us know in the comments section below!
