Before we begin…
Both myself and the rest of the team at Teacher’s Pet want to say congratulations to England on reaching the final of Euro 2020! Against the odds, this incredible team have made their way to the final. Their togetherness, team spirit and willingness to perform has taken them this far, and only the Azzuri stand in their way. Is it coming home? I think it might just be. Good luck tonight lads, do it for England! We’ll be with you… cowering behind the sofa!
SPEAK Phonics available now in EARLY ACCESS!
Rather than making you all wait until absolutely everything is finished, we have decided to allow early access to the scheme. This will allow you to explore the scheme, get a feel for what it is and why you are going to LOVE it!
Created by our in-house team of teachers and designers, our SPEAK Phonics programme has been designed to bring a Systematic, Synthetic approach to phonics that helps to embed learning in a fun and practical way and support you in your application of phonics, by providing teachers with the knowledge to deliver high-quality phonics teaching, whether that be to a whole class, small group or one-to-one interventions.
The CORE documents including overviews and guides are now available to help you in planning the delivery of phonics in your classroom/school (school delivery requires a school membership – grab a quote via the SPEAK Phonics hub)
You can also download the first batch of resources for all 4 ‘blocks’ including all the ‘essential’ resources such as sound cards.
Our brand new SPEAK Phonics programme has been carefully organised through our phonics hub, to help you easily find what you are looking for. Each core area shown above will take you through the resources you need, to successfully deliver a systematic, synthetic phonics scheme in your school.
We hope you enjoy the hub! We’d love to hear your feedback, so make sure you that you get in touch if you have any feedback or suggestions for us and remember to spread the word using the social buttons on the hub.
Don’t forget to grab your FREE Taster Packs! These taster packs features a small selection of resources from blocks 1-4 of the scheme.
FREE Classroom Essential
Following on from last week, the second of our Classroom Essentials is now available to download! Throughout July and August, we will be offering a different Classroom Essential for FREE through our website every single week. If you’ve not tried our resources before, it’s a great opportunity to download and see what all the fuss is about. If you’re already a member, (thank you for supporting us) why not mention it to your colleagues so they can try our resources too?
Our next FREE resource included in our ‘Classroom Essentials’ campaign are these useful EDITABLE helping hands class job posters which will assist in keeping your daily class jobs organised.
Jim and the Beanstalk resources are now online!
Our NEW Jim and the Beanstalk resources are now online and available to download from our site! Jim and the Beanstalk is a modern retelling of the classic Jack and the Beanstalk. At the top lies a castle and a giant, Jim only wants to stay for breakfast, but he finds the giant needs help. This set of resources is designed to go alongside the story, with resources such as story frames, story retell and maths resources (ever think you’d be measuring the circumference of your head compared to a giant)?
Welcome Willy Wonka
In case you missed it, this past Wednesday was World Chocolate Day. Not that we need an excuse to eat chocolate, but if for whatever reason you do, then World Chocolate Day was exactly what you were looking for. Highly requested on the day and still now being requested were our selection of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory resources!
The activity pictured requires children to design their own Wonka Bar or Sweet. Can they try and make their design healthy? Visit the link below and check out the rest of our range of resources!
We have updated our popular ‘Guided Reading Posters!‘ Bold and colourful, they are perfect to print out in A4 or A3 and dot around your reading area or in the school library to help children improve their reading skills. Updated guides include our updated Three Little Pigs designs!
The bees are buzzing in for summer
We’ve had quite a few requests on the site for bee resources this week! And after all, it is the summer time, so what better time of year than summer to bring back the bees!
One of the most popular downloads is our bee facts quiz. This is great for children to test their bee knowledge and use as a class recall activity.
End of Year Journals
With just two weeks left of term time, now is the PERFECT time to use thse End of Year Journals with your class! Available for EYFS, KS1, LKS2 and UKS2.
We’ve got some MARVELLOUS MERCH on our official shop site! PERFECT as an end of year gift for the special teacher or TA in your life! Or maybe, an end of year treat for you! 😉
It’s time to Fill Your Bookshelf again with Phil’s latest book review
For this week’s ‘Fill Your Bookshelf’ Phil has been reading the wonderful ‘An Emotional Menagerie – Feelings From A to Z’ written by Alain de Botton. Phil says – ‘An Emotional Menagerie is a beautifully illustrated and written collection of poems describing a range of emotions from A-Z. A wonderful resource for PSHE lessons to build children’s emotional vocabulary’.

Until next time, I only have one more thing to say…
