David Walliams’ Birthday
Comedian, Britains Got Talent Judge, TV and Theatre Actor and charity legend. WOW! What a list of jobs!
Born August 20th 1971, David Edward Walliams has over a dozen children’s novels published.
His first outing into children’s books started all the way back in 2008 when he debuted with ‘The Boy in the Dress‘.
Since then he has gone on to write such classroom favourites as Billionaire Boy, Gangsta Granny and Demon Dentist – to name a few.
In order to help you and your class celebrate his birthday, I’ve put together a blog that will hopefully give you some inspiration for some ideas on how to celebrate his birthday.
Why Reading Is So Important!
World Book Day’s 10 Minute Story Sharing – David Walliams
If you’re looking for some inspiration to help make learning more fun and engaging for kids in their own time, why not try and a splash of creativity to a spare section of the classroom and make a dedicated display area where the children can pin up their favourite pieces of work all to do with the topic of Dr Seuss and his various works.
5 Activities for Discussing Billionaire Boy in the classroom
Billionaire Boy was one of my favourite David Walliams’ books when I was in KS2, so I’ve found some ideas and activities for how you could discuss the story.

These ideas came from West End Schools blog, they have plenty of other really creative and informative classroom blogs – take a look here.
Given the worldwide success of many of David Walliams‘ books, it’s hardly surprising that many of them have been given multiple adaptations: stage plays, full–length feature films, TV shows and even attractions at Alton Towers!
Some children may struggle to fully engage with lessons based purely on books alone, and may benefit from more visual representations of content. Therefore I feel it’s crucial to look at the whole range of mediums available and try and integrate them into your lesson.
Many of the TV shows can be found on both Youtube as well as BBC’s own website:
