Enid Blyton’s Birthday

World-famous children’s author, an accomplished pianist, prep school teacher and so much more.

Enid Blyton has many well known books under her belt ranging from Noddy to The Magic Faraway Tree. However, her world-famous series The Famous Five, has had numerous reincarnations; in the form of films, tv shows, audio dramas, gamebooks and even a handful of parodies created by numerous people through the years.

Magic Faraway Tree Treehouse

Magic Faraway Treehouse built in the school wildlife area. We loved building it knowing the children will love it. A place to let your imagination go wild, looking up the large Faraway tree for magical lands. Great place to sit and read.

Malory Towers Trailer – CBBC

Darrell arrives for her first term at Malory Towers – full of midnight feasts, lacrosse games, jolly picnics and a mysterious ghost story there is adventure around every corner!

Malory Towers is a CBBC 13 part drama based on the iconic novels by Enid Blyton following the adventures of Darrell Rivers as she leaves home for the first time to attend an all girls’ boarding school.

Cooking Show

A fun classroom activity is to let the kids have a go at making some of the foods found in the ‘Jolly Good Food’ book. Or even letting them go wild and make their own interpretations of some of the foods and drinks found in Enid Blyton’s books.

To add an extra layer to the lesson, why not attempt to make it into a cooking show; a la ‘Ready Steady Cook’ or ‘Come Dine with Me’.

Below is a link to just a couple of nice and easy treats that can be made and enjoyed in the classroom.

Classroom Display

No Magic Faraway Tree classroom would be complete without a tree with which to hand fairy lights and all sorts of designs off of its branches. Take a read here to help guide your way to making your own paper classroom tree!

If you’re looking for some inspiration to help make learning more fun and engaging for kids in their own time, why not try and a splash of creativity to a spare section of the classroom and make a dedicated display area where the children can pin up their favourite pieces of work!

Using this Art Atack guide for how to make a base model treehouse, why not expand upon the design more and make your own one inspired by Enid Blyton’s ‘Hollow Tree House’ book.

Or, if you’d rather, have a go at following this guide and try your hand at making a paper mache Magic Faraway Tree.
